EP International Dot Day / The International Day of the Point

This week the children in primary are learning about International Dot Day (which is held on the 15th of September). International Dot day is based off a book by the author Peter H. Reynolds and the links for the story can be found below. The children read the story in their classes before coming to the art class. International Dot Day is about building confidence in children and their abilities. A well known quote from the book was used to inspire children in their art classes: "Just make a mark and see where it takes you" . The children began with a single mark or dot to create their works of art.

This week we celebrate   "The International Day of the Point" (September 15).

The International Day of the Point is inspired by the story of "The point" by Peter H. Reynolds whose links to hear the story are found below. The students, once they read the history in their classes, have put their creativity into practice in the Art class.

During this week self-esteem and confidence in oneself and in our abilities are reinforced.  "Leave your mark and follow it wherever it takes you"  phrase of the story that has inspired students during their Art class. They started with a brand or point and, from there, they created their own works of art.
