WHERE THERE IS A POINT, THERE IS A CAMINO HAPPY INDOOR INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY 2018

WHERE THERE IS A POINT, THERE IS A CAMINO  HAPPY INDOOR DAY OF THE POINT!

For the past 5 years, numerous schools from the USA to England, including Canada, Guatemala, Australia, Turkey and Zambia (among many others), celebrate the International Day of the Point (" International Dot Day "), on September 15, as an artistic alternative to the stressful "Vuelta al cole" . This original proposal is due to Peter H. Reynolds who, inspired by his own school experience as a "problematic student", according to his teachers, has been writing and illustrating stories about and for children ... at four years old. ..

The twin brothers Peter and Paul Reynolds who were born in Canada in 1961 but who live in the state of Massachusetts (United States) since 3, have always shared the same living and professional space. They inherited from their parents "very eccentric and fond of Monty Python ", according to Paul, his great sense of humor and love for tea: the first led them to write, with only 7 years, his own newspaper and the second to illustrate comics with the used sachets; and, since then, they have not stopped or separated. At the end of their respective studies, they created the Fable-vision studios to produce programs, applications, and didactic material in order to encourage and encourage children's creativity...

Among the many books Peter has written and published Paul so far, El Punto soon became a literary reference, translated into more than 20 languages, as soon as it goes on sale on September 15, 2003. To write, Peter was inspired by a demolishing observation: "I visit classes often and ask who likes to draw. In kindergarten, all raise their hands. Then, as I go asking in the higher courses, the number of hands up decreases until, finally, no one raises his hand or point to the "artist of the class". It is sad to see how the artistic and creative energy it is decreasing, it is disappearing. I am convinced that it is because children learn that there are 'rules' to follow. But when it comes to expressing yourself, you can invent your own rules. You can change them, stretch; you can ignore them and throw yourself into the unknown. "

The Point is the story of Vashti, a girl who does not know or who dares not draw. Thanks to her art teacher who trusts her talent, Vashti manages to find the artist she has inside. What began with a point on a blank sheet of paper ends up being an interior journey full of surprises through a palette of colors. As an anecdote, Peter dedicated El Punto (or his initiatory "point") to his math teacher who, fed up with his antics, had thrown him, in his day, the challenge of showing what it was worth.

According to Peter and Paul, "Where there is a point there is a way", help your children find yours to leave their mark!

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE BOOK "THE POINT"

Very soon, the book "The Point" will complete 6 years. Its publication by Candlewick Press took place on September 15, 2003. The celebrations will take place around the world to commemorate this book that has inspired so many people.
Everyone can participate. Around the 15th or the same day, read the book "The Point" to someone and then invite us to paint dots. Big, small, unpainted dots, you know. Photograph or film this activity and send the result to: terry@fablevisionlearning.com .
Whether in a classroom, in the family or with a group of friends, paint your point and join the party.
Peter Reynolds wrote the following about this day:

"Spread the word ... Dot Day .. read The Dot, wear dots, eat dots, draw dots, frame dots, connect the dots, splurge on art supplies, try a new medium - a new instrument, write a poem, rearrange your furniture, reconnect the dots with an old friend, make something, make something with a friend, share your creativity with the world. No strict rules on how to celebrate! "

International Dot Day - International Dot Day

To all teachers, librarians and friends: On September 15th, the International Point Day will be held, which was the date of publication of the children's book The Point by Peter H. Reynolds.
It is organized by Reynolds Center for Teaching Learning & Creativity, from USA.

Schools, libraries and other groups join the party and share the work done by children in relation to the book "El punto". Last year, 1.3 million people from 85 countries participated. I have joined this year and I encourage you to join and share the work of children with other international schools. INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY

EP International Dot Day / The International Day of the Point

This week the children in primary are learning about International Dot Day (which is held on the 15th of September). International Dot day is based off a book by the author Peter H. Reynolds and the links for the story can be found below. The children read the story in their classes before coming to the art class. International Dot Day is about building confidence in children and their abilities. A well known quote from the book was used to inspire children in their art classes: "Just make a mark and see where it takes you" . The children began with a single mark or dot to create their works of art.

This week we celebrate   "The International Day of the Point" (September 15).

The International Day of the Point is inspired by the story of "The point" by Peter H. Reynolds whose links to hear the story are found below. The students, once they read the history in their classes, have put their creativity into practice in the Art class.

During this week self-esteem and confidence in oneself and in our abilities are reinforced.  "Leave your mark and follow it wherever it takes you"  phrase of the story that has inspired students during their Art class. They started with a brand or point and, from there, they created their own works of art.

INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY September 15 2018

Hello everyone. In less than three weeks the new school year will begin. Along with the release of pencils, the return of the uniform or the mandilón and the snack bag, the books are the main protagonists of this return, but in addition to the text, there is one that deserves special attention: The point of Peter Reynolds.

Every year, on September 15, the INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY = Dot Day is celebrated on the planet. This celebration takes place in schools around the world and its purpose is none other than to encourage and encourage the creativity of students. The events take place in the school and each center proposes a range of activities around the book.
Peter H. Reynolds is one of the Reynolds twins, born in Canada but residing in the USA. Both say that part of their humor or genius is due to the eccentricity of their parents, two Brits mad with the Monty Python. The point, is the first title of a trilogy created to encourage the creativity of children, is in particular an invitation to self-expression, but what was the motivation of the illustrator to create this work? In the words of PH Reynolds himself:

"I visit classes often and ask who likes to draw. In kindergarten all raise their hands. Then, as I go asking in the upper classes, the number of hands up decreases until, finally, no one raises his hand or point to the "artist of the class"

After endless translations of the work throughout the world, Reynolds Point (the Spanish edition is Serres) has acquired in its own right the category of Essential Book, both for its ability to promote reading and for his support work in the growth and development of artistic skills among his readers.

In the web of the celebration you will find the information to join the celebrations, as well as a lot of info and related activities to celebrate in class the INTERNATIONAL DOT DAY. You can also contribute yours, do not think about it, The point is the point and in times of crisis like the one we are going through, we need references that lead us on the right path; as Reynolds says:

Because where there is a point there is a path
